Jackie Green Construction

SSG Project Case Study

Jackie Greene who played hurling for Clare and Munster left Newmarket on Fergus, Co. Clare, in 1952 to work on building projects in Dublin. He founded Jackie Greene Construction in 1976 completing his first project of semi-detached homes in Templeogue in early 1977.

Since its formation the company has mainly concentrated on building quality new homes in the Dublin and Leinster area. Over recent years the company’s projects have ranged from inner city renewable developments and quality residential homes to offices and industrial units.

Challenge

By 2011, Mythen Construction had outgrown their existing accounting software. The company required a new system capable of handling their growing operations, which included:

  • High Volume of Subcontractors: Need for better management and accounting of subcontractor relationships.
  • Integration with ROS (Revenue Online Service): Direct link needed for compliance and reporting.
  • Comprehensive Payroll Management: Capturing and updating all employer costs into the job costing ledger.
  • Integration with Microsoft Office: Essential for reporting using Excel and Word.
  • Scalability: The solution needed to support multi-user, multi-company, and multi-currency operations, with the flexibility to grow with the business.

Solution

In 2011, Mythen Construction implemented the Advanced Business Manager (ABM) Project Control Software to address these challenges. The ABM system was selected for its robust capabilities, including:

Multi-Company Database Structure:

  • Cost Centres: Established to be used across different developments.
  • Nominal Ledger Structuring: Ensured consistent reporting across all companies within the group.
  • Subcontractor Module Upgrade: Allowed multiple packages to be assigned to a single subcontractor with varying contract values.

Quantum Payroll Integration (2015):

  • Payroll System Replacement: Introduced to meet the evolving needs of the business.
  • Enhanced Integration: Ensured payroll integration with job costing and other financial systems.

Results

The implementation of the ABM Project Control System, complemented by Quantum Payroll and ROS integration, provided Mythen Construction with a scalable and robust solution. This system continues to meet the company's needs, supporting their ongoing growth and ensuring efficient, compliant, and accurate management of their construction projects.

Conclusion

The strategic decision to implement ABM Project Control Software, along with the Quantum Payroll integration, has empowered Mythen Construction to effectively manage its expanding operations. The solution not only addressed their immediate needs but also provided the flexibility to grow with the business, ensuring continued success and operational efficiency in a competitive industry.
